Pegasus Takes Its Place Amongst Turkey's Superbrands

Pegasus takes its place amongst Turkey's Superbrands...

Pegasus Airlines celebrated its status as one of Turkey’s Superbrands in an award ceremony held on 3rd August recognising the achievements of the country’s winners of the Superbrand Turkey 2007 project. Superbrands International’s Global Operation Director Rhett Lego was there to award certificates to Pegasus Airlines and the other 25 companies who were chosen as winners in the Superbrands Turkey project.

Operational in more than 70 countries worldwide, the British company Superbrands has been defining the world’s superbrands for almost 15 years. Superbrands is an independent arbiter of branding and as the only organisation operating in this field. The brands they select as Superbrands are then promoted around the world through the international network of Superbrands International.

Speaking at the Turkish Superbrands ceremony, Superbrands International’s Global Operation director Rhett Lego said he believes that Turkey will grow as the country’s brands continue to grow and develop: “We have been closely monitoring the rapid growth of the Turkish economy in recent years and with it, the expansion of choice. From a western economic perspective, the healthy regional competition that has resulted in greater overall competition and thus stronger brands for the country is a positive development. We must note that when we discuss branding today, it’s not an isolated task for the marketing department, but relates to the integration of all sections of business,” said Lego.

The brand selection process involves consultation with a dedicated Superbrands Council, consisting of leading luminaries and respected specialists of the country concerned. This local knowledge and experience ensures objectivity throughout the Superbrands selection process. Turkey’s superbrands were chosen amongst national and international brands operating in the country by a select group of judges using criteria of Superbrands International. Initially a list of 137 brands, a final 26 were awarded title of Superbrand Turkey 2007.
