New Boeing Aircraft Delivery for Pegasus Airlines

Pegasus Airlines received delivery of new aircraft "Ece" on 18th February in Seattle, USA, the fourth Boeing 737-800 in its total order of 24 new generation aircraft.

Pegasus Airlines received delivery of new aircraft "Ece" on 18th February in Seattle, USA, the fourth Boeing 737-800 in its total order of 24 new generation aircraft. The new aircraft, "Ece", has been named after one of Pegasus Airlines engineer's new born twins.

The 189-capacity new generation Boeing 737-800 aircraft delivered this month in Seattle will join sister-airline, IZair's, fleet in summer 2009, bringing total aircraft in the Pegasus Airlines fleet to 23 - 18 of which in operation with Pegasus Airlines, and 5 with IZair.

"Ece's" delivery brings Pegasus Airlines one-step closer to having Turkey's youngest fleet. The new aircraft has been named after the one of the twin daughters of Huseyin Guler, an engineer at Pegasus Airlines. The other of Guler's twin daughters, "Gulce", was the name given to the previous aircraft delivered in August 2008. Naming new aircraft after the new-born daughters of Pegasus Airlines staff is now tradition; the new baby girl born on the nearest date of the new aircraft delivery has the honour of the aircraft being named after her.

The new aircraft will lead to increased frequency and new routes for the airline; thus moving towards a ‘single-type' fleet, with the added benefits of safety and easy-care of the aircraft. General Manager, Sertaç Haybat explains Pegasus Airlines are pleased with the performance, quality of service and economic benefits of the 737s, explaining that "the Pegasus family is excited about Boeing's delivery of the fourth of 24 aircraft. Our passengers are very happy with the comfort provided by the 737s. Pegasus Airlines are set to reach a fleet of 24 by end-2009, together with IZair. By 2015, our projection is a fleet size of 33, explained Haybat.
