Now in its twenty-third year, Aspendos International Opera and Ballet Festival attracts spectators from across the world, shining from Antalya like a precious stone, as much with its success as the artistry of its shows. This peace-loving festival began with the aim of removing the barriers of religion, language and race by bringing people together with art. Today it welcomes many performers from the Far East and Europe Union, demonstrating that it has long since reached its goal. Staged in the truly unique atmosphere of the 2nd-century Aspendos Amphitheatre, this special festival, has been admitted to the European Festivals Association and also took fifth place in the Independent Newspaper’s ‘Best Opera Festivals List’. The festival is organised by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism Directorate of State Opera and Ballet, and its success can be measured by the fact that every performance at the Aspendos International Opera and Ballet Festival is watched by almost five thousand people.
