Charles de Gaulle Airport, located 25 km northeast of the capital Paris, is named after the 18th President of France. The airport's name is abbreviated as Paris CDG and it hosts cheap flights to Paris from various locations.

You can access Paris and other cities from Charles de Gaulle Airport using public transport, TGV trains, shuttle CDGVal, and car rental services.

RER B Train

RER B and TGV trains are two alternatives to get to farther destinations like Lyon, Brussels, and Avignon. At CDG Airport, you can take the RER B local commuter train to downtown Paris. The RER B takes you first to Gare d’Est, then to Saint-Michel-Notre-Dame, the tourist zone, before stopping at Orly Airport. There are trains by RER B to Paris every 15 minutes on weekdays. The journey takes 25 minutes to Gare du Nord.

TGV Train

Apart from RER B regional trains, you can find access to the high-speed train TGV and international SNCF rail links at the Airport. The station Charles de Gaulle 2 TGV Airport in Terminal 2 will directly connect you to Avignon, Lyon, and Brussels. The train journey between Paris CDG and Brussels Airports lasts about 1 hour and 36 minutes.

Airport Shuttle

Using the CDGVal shuttle is the easiest way to transfer between terminals. Passengers transfer from Terminals 2 and 3 to Terminal 1, enabling arrivals to reach the train and bus stations within CDG Airport.

Bus

RoissyBus takes you from Terminal 1 to the Paris city center. The central stop is near the Opera. From CDG Airport, RoissyBus starts at 6:00 a.m. and serves every 20 minutes. In the reverse direction, the bus serves every 20 minutes, starting from 05:15 to 08:00 and every 30 minutes from 10.00-00:30 at night.

About the Orly Airport

Commonly referred to as Orly, the international airport is located 13 kilometres south of Paris. The complex is situated partially in Villeneuve-le-Roi and partially in Orly. Before the opening of Charles de Gaulle Airport in 1974, Paris Orly Airport was the main airport of the French capital.

Paris Orly Airport is the busiest airport in France in terms of domestic traffic. The complex is also the second busiest airport in passenger traffic.

Opened it 1932, the airport was formerly known as Villeneuve-Orly Airport. Used for military service during the Second World War, the airport has been renovated and new terminals were built over the years. Currently, the complex consists of four terminals and received more than 30 million passengers in the year 2018.

Transport from Paris Orly Airport to the City Center

Taxi

Taxis are located right outside the exit terminals and offer the quickest ride to the city. The trip takes around 30 minutes and costs about 40€.

Train

The most used transportation option that you can take to get to central Paris is by trains. As there are no direct railways to the center of Paris, you will need to get on Orlyval Metro first; then you can transfer to RER B or RER C trains at Anthony Train Station. The complete journey costs around 13 € and the rides are quite comfortable. The tickets can be obtained on the stations.

Bus

Orlybus tickets cost 8.30 € and the bus takes you directly to downtown Paris in 45 minutes. You can also take the public bus which costs 2 € but stops frequently in each stop, resulting in a longer trip.

The connection between the city center and Paris Orly Airport is also served by other buses throughout the night. The transportation is available 24/7.

Public Transport

The efficient and affordable transportation system of Paris is composed by taxi, buses, metro and railway. The public transportation network is operated by RATP.
