Bringing an extra shine to Mardin since 2006, the Mardin International Film Festival, known as SineMardin, is now in its eleventh year. The festival began with the aim of developing cinema in the city and increasing the number of productions; when mixed together with the culture of Mardin, it takes on a flavour to be relished. With competitions in the categories of full feature film, short film and documentary, SineMardin reaches a wider audience every year and shows every sign of being the voice, not just of Mardin, but the whole of South-East Anatolia. As well as competitions for works which combine the power of cinema with Mardin’s rich cultural heritage, there are also film screenings, activities and workshops, that cinema lovers queue up to join.
