• Big Almaty Lake: The Big Almaty Lake, located at the top of the canyon of the same name, at a height of 2511 m, is fed by the Almaty River passing through it and it is a part of a wonderful national park. • Bayterek Tower: This tower, which means "Tree of Life", is the symbol of the capital city Astana. The egg-shaped structure at the top of the tower symbolizes the beginning of life. You can watch the whole city from here.
• Shymbulak: Located near the city of Almaty, Shymbulak is a famous ski resort. Standing out with its central location, Shymbulak has many accommodation and restaurant facilities.
• Medeu: Medeo is an outdoor speed ski and skating rink. It is located in a mountainous valley on the southeast slope of Almaty. Medeo is the highest skating rink in the world. It got its name from Medeo, a traveler who lived here.
• Altyn-Emel National Park: This national park consists of great canyons and volcanic mountains. Besides, endangered plant and animal species are taken under protection in the park.
• Han Satir: Located in the capital city Astana, Han Satir is a huge shopping and amusement center. In addition to its unique architecture, Han Satir is a convenient place to find traditional gifts.

Things to Know Before Visiting Kazakhstan

• Public transport in Kazakhstan is heavily dependent on buses. But in big cities, there are many other public transport alternatives such as metro and trolleybus.

• In Almaty, there is a city transport card called “Onay” . You can get this card either at the airport or in the city center bus stops. 

• Kazakhstan does not require a visa for Turkish citizens, in their travel less than 30 days. On the other hand, all the foreigners that enter Kazakhstan should declare their address in Kazakhstan if they would like to stay in the country for more than 5 days; otherwise, they encounter a fine. 

• Kazakhstan does not have a coast and it is surrounded by the mountains. Thus, it has a continental climate. Summers in Kazakhstan are very hot and dry, whereas winters are cold and snowy. In January, the temperature may go below -15 Celsius degree. In July, it is usually around 25 degrees.

The airport is 15 km away from the city center. To get to the city center, you can take bus number 79, 86, 92 or 106. These buses pass through the train station on the way to the city center. The Journey from the airport to the city center takes approximately 45 minutes.
