About the Airport

Formerly known as Seeb International Airport, Muscat International Airport is the international airport of Oman. Located 32 kilometres from Muscat, the airport consists of two terminals and the complex is spread over an area of 21 km2.

Muscat International Airport

The airport was first opened in 1973 as Seeb International Airport for a replacement of small airport complex located in Bayt al Falaj. In 2008, the name of the airport was changed to Muscat International Airport. The complex handled more than 14 million passengers in the year 2017.

There are several options that you can take to get to Muscat city center.

Taxi

Taxi is one of the most used options. Taxis are located right outside the terminals and available for 24 hours. It is always recommended to set the price and destination before you book your taxi.

Car Rental Services

Public Transport

The transportation system of Muscat is not quite advanced and efficient. The system is mainly composed of taxis and rental cars. The connection between its counties and landmarks is usually served by cabs.

There are Mwasalat buses which ring around the city. As the bus lines do not offer rides to the remote places of Muscat, the residents and visitors of the city prefer taxis instead of buses.

The city of deserts is quite hot and dry during the summer. The temperature during the summer months can even go above 50°C.
