Czech Republic Category C Visa for Short Stay Visits

A Category C Visa, also known as a short-stay visa or a Uniform Schengen Visa, allows the visa-holder to stay and travel within Czechia and the Schengen Area for up to 90 days. This visa is usually issued to tourists, those travelling for business purposes and visitors who wish to visit their family members or friends in the Czech Republic. You can also apply for this visa for short-term cultural activities or medical treatment.

Czech Republic Category D Visa for Long Stay Visits

A Category D Visa, also known as a Long-Term Visa, allows its holder to stay in the Czech Republic for longer than 90 days. Long-term student and employment visas are among the most common types. Besides, there is also a long-term visa for job-seeking, family reunification, research, internship, and freelancing purposes.

General Requirements to Apply for a Czech Republic Visa

• Filled out and signed visa application form,
• A valid travel document with at least two blank pages, issued in the past 10 years and valid for at least 3 months after the intended departure from the Czech Republic,
• A passport-size photo no older than three months,
• Documents demonstrating the purpose of stay,e., organised trip reservation, individual trip reservation, travel agency confirmation, plan of journey, paid or pre-paid travel agency invoice, etc.
• Proof of accommodation in the Czech Republic,
• A travel medical insurance with a minimum coverage of EUR 30,000,
• Proof of sufficient financial means:
  • Bank statements
  • Internationally accepted bank card
  • Prepaid voucher
  • Paid travel agency invoice
  • Officially verified invitation
  • Stipend, grant, or salary proof
  • Employment contract with Czech employer

What is Visa Sponsorship for the Czech Republic?

A visa sponsorship is required in the Czech Republic or any Schengen member state if the applicant cannot cover his/her expenses for educational or touristic purposes on their own for the duration of the stay.

Czech Republic Visa Rules

Besides the required documents, there are also several rules you must know about when applying for a Czech visa.

• The visa application form for children under 18 years of age must also be signed by a parent or legal guardian.
• If you are an EU citizen or a family member of an EU citizen and your expected stay in the Czech Republic will be longer than 30 days, you must report your place of residence in the country to the Alien Police Service.
• If your stay in the Czech Republic is shorter than 30 days, you must demonstrate funds of 1,565 CZK per day. For longer stays, you must have 15x3,130 CZK (46,950 CZK) and an additional 6,260 CZK for each full month.

Czech Republic Visa Requirements for Third-Country Nationals

Third-country nationals without visa-free access to the EU should apply for a Czech visa through missions or visa centres across the globe. A Czech Republic visa will enable its holder to travel to any country within the Schengen area for the duration of the stay.

Citizens of the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada can enter the Czech Republic without a visa.
