You can use public buses, small buses and taxis to get around in the city.

In order to use public buses, you need to buy a rechargeable “Bal-Kart” from kiosks and sale points that are scattered around the city center. You can check public bus timetables and routes from here. The site is only available in Turkish.

Small buses cover many routes in Balıkesir and they are the most used means of public transport in the city. They do not have fixed stops on the route, pick-up and drop-off is made on demand and fare is paid in cash.  You can also use taxis to get around in Balıkesir.
